‘Donkey Kong’ and more classic gaming soundtracks join the Nintendo Music library

Nintendo has added 26 classic gaming soundtracks including Donkey Kong, Mario Bros. and more to its Music streaming platform.

The Nintendo Music app launched last year, letting gamers listen to soundtracks from a number of its iconic games. There were 23 albums available via Nintendo Music at launch, including the original Super Mario Bros., The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and Super Mario Odyssey with one new soundtrack added every week.

As well as listening to the songs, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can also play extended versions of tracks and build their own custom playlists to listen to offline.

Last week Mario Kart 64 was added to the service and now a mighty 26 new albums have been added to Nintendo Music. “Soundtracks from 26 NES classics, including Donkey Kong, Ice Climber and Duck Hunt are available now on the Nintendo Music app! The songs are retro, but their time is now,” reads the official announcement.

The NES classics available to stream via Nintendo Music are:

Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Donkey Kong Jr. Math
Donkey Kong 3
Mah-Jong
Gomoku Narabe Renju
Baseball
Tennis
Pinball
Wild Gunman
Duck Hunt
Golf
Hogan’s Alley
Devil World
F1 Race
Urban Champion
Clu Clu Land
Excitebike
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
Soccer
Wrecking Crew
Stack-Up
Gyromite
Mach Rider

While a lot of retro gaming fans are happy about the new additions, some players are frustrated that the celebrated soundtracks from Switch 2 titles Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza haven’t been added to Nintendo Music as a priority.

Other fans are hoping more Pokemon music will be added to the service soon. A Pokemon Presents livestream is set to take place later today and will be preceded by a DJ Pikachu show.

In other news, Nintendo has confirmed some of the new voice actors in Mario Kart World following the departure of Samantha Kelly (Princess Peach, Toad) and Charles Martinet (Mario, Luigi).
