Here are all of Charli XCX’s latest film recommendations from TikTok
Charli XCX has posted her latest batch of film reviews on TikTok, giving her verdict on movies by Lynne Ramsay, Danny Boyle, Wes Craven and others.
The ‘Brat’ star has been sharing her cinematic viewing habits over the last few months with a series of social media posts, and has also encouraged fans to follow her personal Letterboxd account, where she documents all of the films she watches.
Among the movies she discussed in her latest video are Ramsay’s 2002 psychological drama Morvern Callar, in which Samantha Morton’s title character grieves the suicide of her boyfriend.
Charli described the film as “beautiful”, praising the cinematography. “Aesthetically, it’s just gorgeous,” she said. “Great party scenes in this, too. Samantha Morton is incredible, as always – kinda want her career. It explores friendship but also what you do when you have this huge event in your life and you’re supposed to respond in a certain way, but you just feel really lost.”
She was also positive about Wes Craven’s Red Eye and The Last House On The Left, describing the director as the “king of jumps”, and gave a five-star review of 1974 French drama Celine And Julie Go Boating, which she described as “one of my favourite movies of all time”, adding: “If you’re into surrealism, this one is for you.”
Among the new releases she mentioned were Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme and Celine Song’s Materialists, as well as Danny Boyle’s 1994 debut Shallow Grave, which she said was “fabulous”.
She also praised the 2020 documentary Yung Lean: In My Head and the 2003 Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning comedy Uptown Girls, which she said was “a classic”.
Previous films to get the Charli recommendation treatment include 28 Years Later, The Bling Ring, The Happening and Au Hasard Balthazar.
Elsewhere, Charli played a headline show on the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2025, a victory lap for her ‘Brat’ era. She later responded to criticisms of her set, saying: “The best art is divisive and confrontational and often evolves into truly interesting culture rather than being like kind of ok, easily understood and sort of forgettable.”
During her set, she celebrated ‘Brat’ by performing hits off the album including ‘365’, ‘Apple’, ‘Von Dutch’, ‘Girl, So Confusing’ and more. At the end of the performance, she declared that ‘Brat Summer‘ may not be over after all, declaring that “it’s a forever thing”. The show also saw Gracie Abrams deliver the viral ‘Apple Dance‘.
