Meanwhile, Commander Lawrence has just found out that his plans to make New Bethlehem the face of a reformed Gilead are not the same as his peers. Bradley Whitford, the performer who plays Commander Joseph Lawrence, has talked about the shocking twist in Episode 5 in which his character learns that the other Commanders are planning to overthrow him: "I was like, 'He's not that naive to think that this might not happen.'" Guess again.
