The Ivors 2025: Lola Young, RAYE, Ghetts, Charli XCX lead nominations – see the full list

Over 70 songwriters have been nominated for the 2025 Ivor Novello Awards, with Lola Young, RAYE, Ghetts and Charli XCX leading nominations. See the full list below.
The nominees were announced today (April 23) in eight categories, including the Best Album, Best Contemporary Song and the Rising Star Award with Amazon Music. This year’s awards ceremony with Amazon Music marks the 70th anniversary of the prestigious award, and will take place on May 22 at Grosvenor House.
Young has received the most nominations this year with three, in her first year of recognition by The Ivors Academy, while RAYE – winner of last year’s Songwriter of the Year – Ghetts, and Conor Dickinson (who contributed to Young’s album) all received two.
Nominated for the prestigious Best Album award are Charli XCX with ‘Brat‘, BERWYN with ‘Who Am I’, and Ghetts with ‘On Purpose, With Purpose‘. Jordan Rakei is also up for the award with his recent album ‘The Loop’, as is Lola Young with ‘This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway‘.
Elsewhere, Ghetts has been nominated in the Best Contemporary Song category with ‘Double Standards (feat. Sampha)’, marking his second nomination. JADE‘s ‘Angel of My Dreams’, Sans Soucis’ ‘Circumnavigating Georgia’, Bashy’s ‘How Black Men Lose Their Smile’ and Pa Salieu‘s ‘Allergy’, will also be competing for the title.
Meanwhile, Laura Marling and RAYE are up for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, with their tracks ‘Child of Mine’ and ‘Genesis’, respectively. Fontaines D.C.’s ‘In the Modern World’, Lola Young’s ‘Messy’, and Orla Gartland‘s ‘Mine’ are also nominated – the latter being the artists’ first recognition by the Academy.
In the PRS for Music Most Performed Work category, ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! gives George Michael a posthumous Ivor Novello Award nomination, 21 years after he was first nominated in the same category for ‘Amazing’. Wham! compete alongside Harry Styles‘ 2022 hit ‘As It Was’, Dua Lipa‘s ‘Houdini’, ‘Stargazing’ by Myles Smith, and ‘Prada’ by Cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe.
The Rising Star Award with Amazon Music, which celebrates up-and-coming British, Irish or UK resident songwriters aged 18-24, sees an all-female list of nominees, comprising of Bea and her Business, Liang Lawrence, LULU., Nia Smith and Lola Young.
The Ivors also include film/video game scores and TV soundtracks. Notable nominations include Michael ‘Mickey J’ Asante’s original score to Kneecap, Raffertie’s music to The Substance and Mica Levi’s score to The Zone of Interest.
Meanwhile, Best Original Video Game Score sees nominations for Mathieu Alvado and Mark Choi’s soundtrack to Empire of the Ants, John Konsolakis’ score to Farewell North; Eli Rainsberry’s music to Flock, David Garcia Diaz’s soundtrack to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Boxed Ape’s score to The Casting Of Frank Stone.
Launched in 1956, the Ivor Novello awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the field of songwriting and composition and are awarded by award-winning artists and composers from The Ivors Academy. Previous winners include Harry Styles, Wet Leg, Sault, and Florence + The Machine.
In March, it was announced that U2 will be the first Irish act to receive Fellowship Of The Ivors Academy – the highest honour the organisation bestows.
It makes them the latest recipients of the award, following on from Bruce Springsteen, who was granted the award last year and became the first international songwriter to receive the honour.
With the award, U2 will be the 28th Fellows of the Academy, joining songwriting icons including Sir Paul McCartney, Kate Bush CBE, Joan Armatrading CBE, and Sting, who received the award in 2023.
