Disney+ K-drama ‘A Shop For Killers’ renewed for a second season
Disney+ K-drama A Shop For Killers has been renewed for a second season.
The streaming service announced the show’s return on April 22, with the second season set to be part of Disney+’s upcoming slate of original Korean productions. The first season of A Shop For Killers premiered in January 2024 with eight episodes.
Set in modern-day Korea, A Shop For Killers saw college student Jeong Ji-an diving for cover in her childhood home after a series of highly skilled assassins get her in their sights. Desperately fighting to survive, Ji-an drew on invaluable lessons her uncle taught her before his apparent suicide to help her stay alive.
Season 2 will see lead actor Lee Dong-wook reprise his role as Jinman and Kim Hye-jun as Ji-an. Disney+ also announced new cast members for the upcoming season, with Japanese actress Masaki Okada and Pachinko’s Hyunri set to star in as-yet-undisclosed roles.
The show’s original creator Lee Kwon and co-screenwriter Ji Ho-jin will be returning to the show. Further details about its premiere date and plot have yet to be unveiled.
A Shop For Killers received a four-star review from NME’s Puah Ziwei, who wrote that the show made “for a fun and appealing popcorn watch, one that fires all the right synapses in your brain. It’s just enough to keep you hooked – that is, if you’re willing to let the plot holes slide”.
It was later named as one of the 10 best Korean dramas in 2024. Tanu I. Raj praised the series for being “a prime example of excellent storytelling”, adding that it felt “more like an experience in extreme immersion than a television show”.
