Disturbed’s David Draiman booed at Black Sabbath’s final ever show
Disturbed‘s David Draiman was met with a series of boos during Black Sabbath‘s final ever show in Birmingham.
The singer performed as part of an all-star jam at the ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert, at Villa Park on Saturday night (July 5). While there, he fronted covers of Sabbath’s ‘Sweet Leaf’ and Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Shot In The Dark’, backed by current and former members of Anthrax, Megadeth, Guns N’ Roses, and more.
It marked the final farewell for the iconic heavy metal pioneers, with founding members Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward each playing alongside each other for the first time since 2005.
But as Draiman stepped up, he was greeted with loud boos. The Disturbed frontman, who is Jewish, has been an outspoken supporter of Israel; last year, he called Roger Waters a “monster” and an “anti-Semitic to his rotten core”, and professed in 2022 that he “doesn’t give a shit” if he alienated people with his pro-Israel stance.

More recently, he commented on Green Day‘s Palestine lyric change during their recent headline show at Coachella.
Following the boos over the weekend, he wrote on X: “Part of the live stream of #backtothebeginning celebrating the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. As you can see…I wasn’t ‘booed off stage’ as so many people in the press and CERTAINLY #FreePalestine crowd, would have you believe.
“Yes, there were a few boos when I walked out, but I came to pay homage to my teachers, my idols, the mighty Black Sabbath, and I wasn’t about to let a few Jew hating morons deter that. It’s all about feeding their narrative, generating clickbait, and inciting hatred of Jews.”

Elsewhere, in the show, Tool drummer Danny Carey, Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith came together for a drum-off.
Other highlights of the night included mini sets from huge names in metal including Gojira, Mastodon, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Alice In Chains and Halestorm.
Later, members of The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blink-182 joined forces for a Led Zeppelin cover, while Yungblud led another supergroup in a version of ‘Changes’, which they dedicated to the late footballer Diogo Jota.
