Donald Trump says Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are “going to be gone” after Colbert cancellation

Donald Trump has hit out at late night talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, predicting that they will be “next” after it was announced that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert would be ending in May 2026.
Last month, Stephen Colbert, a vocal critic of Trump, announced that his long-running show would be ending, and the Late Show franchise itself would retire. The host took over the show in 2015 from David Letterman, who had fronted it since its inception in 1993.
It is rumoured that the cancellation was related to the merger between parent company Paramount and Skydance, which needed to be ratified by the Trump Administration.
While CBS stated the move was made for “purely financial reasons”, many have speculated that it was done to ease the merger through.

Shortly after the news, Trump celebrated on social media, writing: “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” and that “his talent was even less than his ratings”.
Colbert received support from fellow host Kimmel, however, who shared on Instagram: “Love you Stephen. Fuck you and all your Sheldons CBS,” (a reference to The Big Bang Theory franchise).
During a press briefing at The White House on Wednesday (August 6), The US President commented on the Late Show ending in person by remarking ince again, “Colbert has no talent”.
He then mentioned Fallon and Kimmel – who themselves have criticised Trump in the past – and said: “Fallon has no talent, Kimmel has no talent. They’re next, I hear, they’re going to be gone” he remarked.
Stephen Colbert has continued to jab at Trump, telling the politician to “go fuck yourself” and celebrated an episode of South Park which portrayed Trump as having a micro penis. The cartoon’s social media account also hit out at another government agency for using a still from the show, telling them to “eat a bag of dicks”.
