Olivia Rodrigo has called for fans to help raise funds for the children in Gaza.

The singer made the update on Instagram, sharing a story with her 39.4million followers and calling for people to help support the people in Gaza through the UN’s international emergency fund.

In the now-expired Story, the singer wrote: “There are no words to describe the heartbreak I feel witnessing the devastation that is being inflicted upon innocent people in Palestine.

“Mothers, fathers, and children in Gaza are starving, dehydrated, and being denied access to basic medical care and humanitarian aid.”

She continued: “There is no child in Israel, Palestine, or anywhere in the world who deserves to suffer through what we’re seeing these children have to endure. It is horrific and completely unacceptable. To give up on them is to give up on our shared humanity.”

From there, the singer shared a link to the website for UNICEF USA, which has been providing humanitarian aid for children in Gaza and the West Bank since the ‘80s (via Times Of India), and encouraged fans to donate if possible.

“I donated to help the victims of this terrible situation, and I encourage you to do so if you have the means,” she concluded.

The statement from the ‘Driving License’ singer comes just days after fellow pop star, Billie Eilish, spoke in support of the people of Palestine, describing plans from Minister Israel Katz to relocate civilians in Gaza to a “humanitarian city” built on the ruins of Rafah as “horrifying”.

The comments from Rodrigo come as it was recently revealed by her guitarist that the singer paid for her whole band and crew to have therapy on their last tour.

“I have never had anything like that,” Daisy Spencer told The Stage Left podcast. “And that reignited the importance of therapy to me because I had just kind of fallen off for so long.”

“And then suddenly I had this free resource of incredible therapists, and I utilised the crap out of that. I was going, you know, once a week, once every other week, whenever I could. And it was even during the off time, we also still had access to this resource.”

Describing Rodrigo as “the dreamiest boss of all time”, Spencer added: “So honestly, that was one of the coolest things that has ever happened on tour. It’s not very heard of. It was the coolest thing ever.”
