Original 'Harry Potter' Star Calls Out "Racist" Backlash Over Snape Casting
HBO is rebooting the Harry Potter franchise for television, and to say it's been a controversial ride so far would be understating it. From J.K. Rowling's close association with the show to the entirely new main cast, it seems fans of the franchise have been struggling to come to terms with the upcoming TV adaptation. However, some are far less legitimate reasons than others, especially when it comes to the casting of an iconic character. Despite Harry Potter ultimately being a story about the dangers of prejudice, some "fans" have been unjustifiably angry at the reboot casting a Black actor as Professor Severus Snape.
