NME’s latest stars of The Cover, tripleS, have compiled an exclusive playlist to accompany the story’s launch – check it out below.

The South Korean girl group are on this week’s (May 19) edition of The Cover, a weekly manifestation of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis. Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Cover – you can read the profile of tripleS here, written by Lucy Ford and featuring photography by Sewon Jun.

To accompany The Cover, tripleS have curated an exclusive playlist for NME featuring songs that are good for the soul. Titled ‘Songs to Listen to When You’re Looking for Comfort’, the collection includes fan favourites by the likes of K-pop act SEVENTEEN, British band Coldplay and girl group TWICE, alongside releases by EXO singer D.O., ex-Gugudan member Kim Se-jeong and more. Listen to the full playlist on Spotify below and on Apple Music.

In this week’s The Cover, tripleS open up about their rotating, modular line-up and the unique role that fans play in their creative process. Notably, their fans use an app created by their label to vote on everything – from lead singles to who is going to perform them. “We believe that our fans are the ones who create the direction for tripleS as a group,” says SooYeon. “From the perspective of our members, we are not simply an idol group that has everything created by the company just for the fans.”

The girl group also touch on their status as the largest girl group in K-pop history, and how they have taken their collective experiences growing up together and translating that into song. “I think that within this number of people, you’ll be able to see all the different types of humans,” says SoHyun. “In life, there are moments when you think you’re the only one who’s out of place, or you wonder, ‘Will I really be OK?’ So, if you see various people your age living life their way, you might feel comforted thinking, ‘I’ll be OK too.’”
