'Trust' Review: Sophie Turner stars in a Poorly Executed Celebrity Thriller

A famous actress retreats from a scandal to a remote mansion, but is betrayed by her closest confidant in Trust. A juicy beginning with pertinent social themes quickly derails into a vacuous thriller that's full of plot holes, as a slew of ludicrous twists are compounded by poor supporting acting and questionable direction. The cardboard supporting characters engage in witless banter and bizarre machinations while the protagonist is inexplicably stuck in the same space for two-thirds of the film. Apparently, a supermax prison would be easier to escape from than this Airbnb. It all adds up to a head-scratching thud that feels like a decent premise was wasted.
