'Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid' Is One of Jason Statham's Favorites
Since Jason Statham has seemingly always been drawn to anti-authoritarian characters, it’s hardly surprising that one of his acting heroes is Paul Newman, who gained legendary status by playing non-conformist rebel characters, like the titular troublemaker in the classic 1967 prison drama film Cool Hand Luke. When Statham listed his five favorite films of all time in a 2008 interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Statham selected three of Newman’s films, including the 1969 Western film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, in which Newman plays Wild West outlaw Butch Cassidy opposite Robert Redford’s Sundance Kid.
