A new ‘dark web server’ has appeared online as a promotion for 28 Years Later, revealing what has happened since the original films.

The new entry into the horror series takes place decades after the original series and follows survivors of the Rage virus on a small island.

A new webpage called RageLeaks.net has now appeared, showcasing a series of cryptic posts that give an insight on what has happened in the intervening years.

On a post of an encircled map of Britain, the site writes: “If you’re reading this, you know this map. We’ve all seen it for so long, we practically don’t even notice it anymore. But today I found myself looking at the Dover Narrows. There’s only 20 miles of water separating Dover and Calais. That’s all. They’re probably the most vigilantly guarded miles in the world.”

It adds that “the second wave reached Europe, and we pushed it back” and that “the Atlantic Wall has held ever since”. “We tell ourselves it always will. But how can we know for sure if they won’t tell us what’s really happening?”

The site also teases the sounds of bells, a text correspondence and a report around a mysterious island, as well as a variant of “significant morphological and behavioural differences”, including “tissue engorgement” and beings that are “significantly slower”.

A final post reads: “The virus brought us more than the rage. The sorrow, for our lost home. The guilt, for the ones we left behind. The righteous indignation for the secrets being kept from us.

“It’s been almost 28 years since the outbreak. And still, not a single shred of truth about what’s really going on. They say it’s to protect us. It’s for our own good. After all this time, what are they still hiding?

“They classify satellite images. They forbid any communication with survivor communities. They suppress rumors and discredit reports that somehow, the infected have adapted. They don’t want us to see. But we must bear witness. All of us.”

28 Years Later, which is the first part of a planned trilogy, is set to star Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes, while original star Cillian Murphy is due to appear at some point over the course of the films.

Danny Boyle is back to direct, and recently explained that the film is a response to Brexit and “retrenchment to older values”.
