Alex Warren releases ‘Eternity (Orchestral Version)’ from upcoming ‘Bose x NME: C25’ mixtape

Alex Warren has released an orchestral version of hit single ‘Eternity’ from Bose and NME’s forthcoming ‘C25’ mixtape – check it out below.

‘Bose x NME: C25’ will be released in full next month (September 19) and spotlights the next generation of music talent from around the world. Two singles, including Parcels’ chilled-out ‘Summerinlove’ and Zimmer90’s dreamy ‘what a life’, have already been shared from the mixtape – and now Alex Warren’s contribution is out in the world.

Recorded at the Grand Lodge of Tennessee with a full orchestra, this gorgeous new version of ‘Eternity’ amplifies the tender emotion behind the heartbreaking track. “This song is pretty big as it is. It has a lot of build moments,” Warren told NME recently. “When you listen to an orchestra version, I think it almost pulls the heartstrings a little more.”

“Writing Eternity was an emotional experience,” he added, referring to the lyrics about the death of his father, who passed from kidney cancer when he was just nine years old. “I’ve written so many songs about grief but this one was different. Every time I try to write a record about something very personal and very intimate, I try to make it so everyone can relate to it.”

‘Eternity’ originally featured on Warren’s debut album ‘You’ll Be Alright, Kid’ which was released back in July and topped the UK Album Charts.

The legendary C-Series compilation was relaunched in March 2023 thanks to a new partnership between NME and Bose. Featured artists on ‘C23′ included King Princess, Genesis Owusu and 070 Shake while last summer’s ‘C24’ mixtape boasted a stacked line-up including rugged soulmaster Teddy Swims, jazz-loving singer-songwriter Laufey, London-based musician Artemas and more. Combined, the two releases have racked up more than 100million streams.

‘C25’ will launch September 19 on digital streaming platforms, alongside a limited run of vinyl records and cassette tapes. On Tape, an innovative video series featuring one-take, 360-degree performances from ‘C25’ artists, has also returned (with appearances from Parcels and Alex Warren) after its hugely successful debut last year.

The first time Alex Warren performed ‘Eternity’ live was during an impromptu encore at the end of his huge headline gig at London’s Alexandra Palace Park in July. Even though still unreleased, the emotional song already had people in tears.

For the ‘Bose x NME: C25’ mixtape, he took another leap of faith by recording ‘Eternity’ with an orchestra at the fabulously named Grand Lodge Of Tennessee, an opulent hall in Nashville. It was the first time he’s ever worked with a full orchestra. “I want people to know that I’m just trying,” he told NME. “I’m not hiding behind Auto-Tune. I’m just trying to show you authentic music.”
