American Gladiators Reboot Has a Superstar Host With Mike “The Miz” Mizanin

The American Gladiators reboot has added the perfect host to help present all the hard-hitting and intense action the classic competition show brings.
WWE superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin, who was first a personality on reality television, is taking on hosting duties.
Many viewers watched Mike rise to fame on MTV’s The Real World and The Challenge, before moving into the world of sports entertainment.
Additionally, he’s appeared as a contestant on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars and in his USA Network reality television show, Miz & Mrs., alongside his wife Maryse Ouellet.
His charismatic on-screen presence and TV resume, which includes hosting work, make him an excellent fit for the American Gladiators reboot.
The Miz Brings His Experience With Competition Shows
Like me, those who witnessed the heyday of reality television saw personalities emerge from MTV’s The Real World, including Johnny Bananas, Chris “CT” Tamburello, Trishelle Cannatella, and Mike “The Miz” Mizanin.
Mike was one of the quirky roommates navigating life on The Real World: Back to New York in 2001, and often showcased his self-invented professional wrestling character, The Miz, who eventually became a real WWE superstar.
He confidently moved on to MTV‘s competition show, The Challenge, where he appeared in five seasons and won two: Battle of the Seasons and The Inferno II.
Mike continued his rise as a TV personality, hosting The Challenge spinoff, Champs vs. Stars, and multiple reunion specials, including Battle of the Exes and War of the Worlds, alongside Lolo Jones.
Mike Mizanin’s Career Includes His Rise to Fame With WWE
Not everyone knows Mike from MTV, but many fans worldwide recognize him as The Miz from World Wrestling Entertainment.
Following his days of competing and having fun on MTV, he attempted to win a reality competition show, Tough Enough, to become a WWE star.
Although that failed, he didn’t let it stop him, and WWE recognized his talents, adding him to their roster.
Over 20-plus years with the company, he perfected his in-ring work and microphone skills, achieving multiple title reigns, including the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and Tag Team Championships with other superstars.
What We Know About the American Gladiators Reboot
American Gladiators was a classic competition show that entertained viewers from 1989 through 1996, with contestants battling powerful Gladiators in various obstacles and events testing physical abilities.
The American Gladiators reboot is coming to Amazon Prime, with The Miz as host, featuring new competitions, and some of the classics like Gauntlet, Hang Tough, and The Eliminator.
According to Deadline, professional bodybuilders, former D1 athletes, pro CrossFit champions, and pro fitness trainers will appear as the Gladiators battling contestants in the games and courses.
NBC presented an American Gladiators reboot in 2008 with Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali as hosts. It survived for only two seasons, but episodes are now available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
However, with The Miz bringing his charismatic and witty personality to this upcoming Amazon Prime iteration, I have high hopes that we’ll be able to enjoy this returning competition show in all its glory.
Competition show fans, are you excited for this reboot with The Miz as host, and do you think it can enjoy a longer run than the 2008 American Gladiators reboot?
