Avril Lavigne announces limited edition merch to help rebuild skate shop after Palisades fire

Avril Lavigne performs live

Avril Lavigne has joined forces with the skate shop Paliskates in a bid to rebuild it after the Palisades fire.

The iconic shop was destroyed amid the natural disasters in California at the start of the year, and now Avril Lavigne is working alongside the owner to help restore it. As part of the partnership, the two will be sharing a limited edition sweatshirt – made exclusively for the efforts to rebuild the shop – and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the cause.

The merch is set to go live on Tuesday (May 6), and will feature a custom-designed sweatshirt that “blends Avril’s signature style with Paliskates’ gritty, skate-forward roots.”

It was designed with help from local artists, and screen printed in Los Angeles. A new description describes the jumper as “more than just gear—it’s a symbol of resilience, community, and the culture that Paliskates has nurtured for over a decade”.

“Paliskates is more than a store—it’s a place where skaters and artists have called home for over 25 years,” said the pop-punk icon. “After meeting Erica [Simpson, owner and founder] and hearing her story, I knew I wanted to continue our relationship further.

“It’s going to take years to rebuild the community that was lost, but I know the community is strong and with businesses like Paliskates leading the way it will come back stronger,” Lavigne added. “Doing this merch drop is one piece of helping them regain what the fire took away.”

The shop’s owner added: “The shop has become more than a retail space—it’s a second home for generations of skaters and surfers.

“What began as a hub for local kids has grown into a multi-generational community, with parents now bringing their own children to share in the vibe and values they grew up with. We are proud to support up-and-coming skaters, sponsor local events, and give young people a safe place to hang out and create.”

This isn’t the first time that Avril Lavigne has joined up with the iconic store this year. Around the time of the 2025 Grammys, she made a surprise appearance in a special commercial for the skate shop. This was aired throughout the ceremony and came in a bid to promote local businesses affected by the wildfires.

In other news about the singer, she recently made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside Billy Idol to perform their new collaborative single ’77’.

Before then, it was confirmed that she is set to make her first-ever appearance at Warped Tour this year, as the festival returns for its first edition in six years.
