'Blade Runner' and 'The Thing' Flopped at the Box Office on the Same Day
It's hard to fathom that two of the silver screen's most iconic '80s classics weren't massive home runs at the box office when they first made their respective debuts, with both Blade Runner and The Thingshockingly flopping when they premiered on June 25, 1982. Despite legendary directors Ridley Scott and John Carpenter being the masterminds behind the two sci-fi staples, neither film performed strongly during their theatrical releases and polarized moviegoers.
