Fans react as Oasis kick off North American leg of reunion tour in Toronto: “Life has peaked”

The North American leg of the Oasis Live ‘25 tour kicked off in Toronto this weekend. Find out what went down at the show below.
The Britpop greats’ massive comeback tour made its first of two stops at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on Sunday (August 24), with support from Cage The Elephant. Liam and Noel Gallagher will play another gig at the venue tonight (August 25). You can find the stage times for the next show here.
It was one of the rainiest gigs of the tour so far, with a constant downpour throughout the set. One fan reacted to the weather conditions on Twitter/X, writing: “Something very poetic about Oasis bringing their fuckass British weather to Toronto amidst our most heatwave summer.”
Liam seemed unfazed on stage, telling the crowd: “It’s only a bit of rain, man,” adding: “We’re from Manchester.” Noel also joked about the wet stage, saying: “All this money we’re making and we can’t afford a bit of carpet.”
Yet the weather didn’t stop them from breaking out The Poznan – a staple of their live sets. The celebration – borrowed from their beloved Man City – involves fans facing away from the stage, linking arms with fellow gig-goers and jumping up and down in unison.
Before teaching the crowd the move, Liam told a story of someone ahead of the show telling him, “Good luck tonight trying to get these Canadians to do the Poznan because they’re all a little bit shy and scared and stuff.”
“So what are we gonna prove him wrong then or what,” Liam added, before launching into ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’.

Shortly after their support slots were announced, NME spoke to Cage The Elephant about getting the news of the shows. “I think I might have blacked out a little bit!” guitarist Brad Shultz said.
“It’s an honour to support Oasis,” he said. “It’s a band that me and Matt [Shultz, vocalist and younger brother] grew up with. The first song that I ever learned on guitar was ‘Let It Be’ by The Beatles, and the second song was ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis. Not too shabby with my first two songs!”
Shultz continued: “They’re a band that I’ve always respected for their songwriting sensibility, but also the rawness and realness of that band – I’ve always gravitated towards that. They make the type of records that you can put on front to back. There’s certain bands that just don’t miss, and they’re one of those bands.”
NME gave Oasis’ historic first comeback concert at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium a glowing five-star review, writing: “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century.”
“Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”
In other news, Noel has opened up about the “great” experience of being back on tour with his brother Liam, saying he had forgotten “how funny” he is.
Meanwhile, Reading Festival this weekend saw a few acts take on Oasis covers, with Suki Waterhouse performing ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and Bring Me The Horizon offering their take on ‘Wonderwall’.
