‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ first reactions praise “majestic” new film: “a perfect entry into the franchise”

Reactions from last night’s (June 17) premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth have been mostly positive, with those in attendance praising the action and one character in particular.
The fourth film in the Jurassic World series, and the seventh in the franchise that began with 1993’s Jurassic Park, sees Scarlett Johansson star as a covert operative who heads a group to an island InGen used as a research facility for the dinosaur attractions. Initially looking for dinosaur biomaterials for a cure for disease, the group soon becomes isolated and confronted by mutated creatures.
Oscar winner Mahershala Ali co-stars as the group’s leader, alongside Jonathan Bailey who plays a palaeontologist. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) and written by the screenwriter of the original Jurassic Park, David Koepp.
Following the star-studded premiere in London’s Leicester Square, those in attendance took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts.
“#JurassicWorldRebirth is a roaring triumph and perfect entry into the franchise” posted film critic Jazz Tangcay. “Loved all the new dinosaurs and boy, are some scary. Get ready to fall in love with Dolores. Loved it and what a beautiful homage to the original”.
Fellow critic Barry Levitt concurred: “Hugely impressed by #JurassicWorldRebirth, a film that understands dinosaurs are both incredibly majestic and utterly terrifying. The ensemble is fun, and Dolores is the GOAT (iykyk)”.

Previous publicity material has revealed that Dolores is a baby dinosaur featured in the movie.
Clare Binns enthused: “what an absolute CORKER, Gareth Edward’s knows his stuff, fantastic set pieces and cast all great lead by a tip top performance from Scarlett Johansson”.
Not everyone was impressed, however, with journalist Clayton Davis quipping: “Welp…#JurassicWorldRebirth is a movie. It has that going for it”.

Jurassic World Rebirth is in cinemas from July 2. In March, Johansson revealed she refused a request from studio Universal Pictures to join Instagram to promote the film, describing herself as feeling too “fragile” to use the platform.
