Martin Scorsese's 'The Age of Innocence' Is Now Streaming on Netflix
Director Martin Scorsese has a reputation for gritty, violent movies. Mean Streets in 1973. Taxi Driver in 1976. Raging Bull in 1980. Goodfellas in 1990. That's only some of them. In addition to all four titles being nominated (and winning) some of the industry's highest awards, the latter three are widely regarded as some of the greatest films of all time. All this acclaim came with an underlying cost, though. Some critics considered Scorsese an expert in the tough-guy genre and nothing more. So, he set out to change that by directing an adaptation of a 1920s romance drama, The Age of Innocence. Recognizing that this particular production is still quite an obscure chapter in the famous director’s career, Netflix has made this film available for streaming since April 1.
