'Scream 7' Director Reveals What Happened Following Melissa Barrera & Jenna Ortega's Exit
Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson has revealed what happened with the development of the horror sequel without the presence of key characters Sam and Tara Carpenter. Considered the leads in the franchise's new generation, the siblings were played by Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, respectively, in 2022's Scream and 2023's Scream VI. Despite the massive blow that fans received with their exits, and that of original director Christopher Landon, the series will continue in the hands of the franchise's co-creator. However, it wasn't always supposed to be that way, as Williamson has confirmed that an old friend convinced him to do it: none other than Sidney Prescott herself, Neve Campbell.
