Soulwax have announced their first new album in seven years, ‘All Systems Are Lying’, with a huge double A-side single. Listen below.

The Belgian dance-punk outfit, featuring brothers Stephen and David Dewaele, recently began teasing the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s ‘Essential’ with a cryptic billboard in London.

It has now been confirmed that the new LP will arrive on October 17 via DEEWEE/Because Music, and you can pre-order/pre-save it here.

The Dewaele brothers (aka 2ManyDJs) have described the forthcoming ‘All Systems Are Lying’ as “a rock album made without any electric guitars”.

“We wanted to capture the feeling of a band playing electronic instruments – live, loud and loose,” they added in a joint statement. “This record is the result of that experiment.”

A press release states: “‘All Systems Are Lying’ was built entirely from modular synths, live drums, tape machines and processed vocals. It’s a fractured mirror held up to modern society on the brink – where truth is distorted by filters, algorithms and noise.”

The album is comprised of 14 tracks, including the massive double A-side lead single ‘All Systems Are Lying’/ ‘Run Free’.

The title track begins like a corrupted and distorted transmission, with glitching electronics backing a warning-like message. On ‘Run Free’, Soulwax present a more driving and euphoric sound – combining rhythm, escapism and release.

“One leans into the energy of a live band, the other into the pulse of the dancefloor – two sides of the same Soulwax coin,” a description reads. Listen above.

The full tracklist for Soulwax’s ‘All Systems Are Lying’ is:

‘Pills And People Gone’
‘Run Free’
‘Meanwhile On The Continent’
‘New Earth Time’
‘All Systems Are Lying’
‘Gimme A Reason’
‘Dshunge’
‘Constant Happiness Machine’
‘Polaris’
‘The False Economy’
‘Idiots In Love’
‘Hot Like Sahara’
‘Engineered Fantasy’
‘Distant Symphony’

In 2024, Soulwax debuted the ‘All Systems Are Lying’ cuts ‘Hot Like Sahara’, ‘Idiots In Love’, ‘New Earth Time’ and ‘Polaris’ during their UK and European headline tour – which boasted an ambitious stage production.

This year has already seen Soulwax deliver live sets at Kappa Futur in Turin, Italy, and Rock Werchter in Belgium.

They’ll continue their summer by bringing their high-intensity live show – complete with three drummers – to Junction 2 Festival in London and Lokerse Feesten in Belgium. Find ticket information here.

In other news, 2ManyDJs have provided the soundtrack for Netflix‘s new film starring Vincent Cassel, Banger.

Back in 2022, Soulwax told NME that they were “trying different things out because we don’t want to do the same thing”. They confirmed at the time that there would “definitely maybe” be a new Soulwax album, and said they were “working on it”.
