BTS fans can check out an exclusive clip of new documentary BTS ARMY: Forever We Are Young exclusively on NME.

BTS ARMY: Forever We Are Young explores the passionate fanbase that K-pop sensations BTS have inspired since their debut in 2013.

Focusing on members of the BTS fandom ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth), the film features interviews with a Seoul-based dance instructor who teaches BTS choreography, attendees of the BTS-focused ReactorCon and fans who’ve banded together to help BTS dominate charts around the world.

“Defying stereotypes of pop fans as screaming teens, ARMY is an intergenerational, culturally savvy, and socially active movement that is as diverse as the world itself,” explains an official description of the documentary. “The film captures the powerful spirit of activism and collectivity that make ARMY a symbol of hope and unity in our ever-fractured world. Forever We Are Young offers an unprecedented look at the deep emotional connection between the band and their fans through the lens of personal stories, global fan movements, and unforgettable concert memories.”

BTS ARMY: Forever We Are Young premiered at SXSW earlier this year and is due to hit cinemas on July 30. Tickets can be purchased here and NME readers can watch an exclusive clip from the film above.

Forever We Are Young is made by ARMY, for ARMY,” continues a press release. “The film centres on the fans themselves and celebrates their creativity, resilience and deep emotional connection to the group. Though rooted in fandom, the film explores universal themes of belonging, identity and self-love.”

“There is no BTS without ARMY and no ARMY without BTS,” explained co-directors Grace Lee and Patty Ahn. “We’re excited for audiences to go on an emotional journey and meet a fandom that made us laugh, cry, and think. We were constantly moved by the fans’ power, resilience, creativity and humour and hope audiences will be too.”

Last week, BTS reunited for the first time since 2022, with all seven members having completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. During the livestream, the band confirmed rumours that they were preparing to release new music.

“We’ll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music. Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started,” BTS said in a statement.

“We’re also planning a world tour alongside the new album,” they added. “We’ll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you’re as excited as we are.”
