'Superman' Fixes a Big Mistake from 'Man of Steel'

Superman is now in theaters and serves as a promising start to the DCU, both in terms of critical and box office reception. The movie takes a big swing at one key element of Superman mythology. Midway through the film, it is revealed that Jor-El and Lara Von-El sent their son to Earth to rule as a conqueror and take on many wives, spreading his seed and allowing Krypton's legacy to continue. This is a drastic change for the character, one that subverts the traditional inspiring monologues of past Jor-El's into something far more sinister. It stands in sharp contrast to how the DCEU's Man of Steeldepicted Jor-El and Lara.
