'Superman' Removed Violent Krypto Scene After "Really Bad" Test Screening Reaction
Apparently, like Dirty Dancing didn't put Baby in a corner, James Gunn’s Supermancan’t have the gall to punch Krypto either. The Man of Steel’s Kryptonian canine is without question one of the most intriguing characters to be featured in the countless trailers, clips, and television spots for the summer blockbuster hopeful. So, it just stands to reason that audiences would have a visceral reaction to fan-favorite Krypto being punched by the mysterious Ultraman, and that is exactly what happened in a troubling test screening. In fact, the reaction to Lex Luthor’s (Nicholas Hoult) henchman getting the better of Kal-El’s (David Corenswet) Superdog was so negative that the fight had to be cut from the final theatrical release.
