Watch Trivium pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with ‘Symptom of the Universe’ cover at Bloodstock 2025

Matt Heafy of Trivium

During their headline set at Bloodstock 2025, Trivium paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with a cover of ‘Symptom of the Universe’ – watch footage of the moment below.

Their special guest-laden set on Friday (August 8) saw them joined by the likes of Sleep Token guitarist III, Emperor’s Ihsahn, Malevolence’s Josh Baines and Machine Head‘s Robb Flynn.

The latter joined them to take on the 1975 ‘Sabotage’ track in memory of Ozzy, who died last month at age 76, which came shortly after he took to the stage for his final-ever live show at Black Sabbath’s huge ‘Back To The Beginning’ event in Birmingham on July 5.

Reflecting on the influence of the heavy metal pioneer, frontman Matt Heafy told the crowd: “We recently lost a hero of metal”, adding: “I shouldn’t even say a hero of metal. A man without whose influence none of this shit would exist. I wouldn’t be here, we wouldn’t be here – none of these fucking bands would be here.

“Metal would not sound the fucking same, rock wouldn’t sound the same, fucking metalcore, deathcore, none of that shit would fucking exist without this man. And you know exactly what I’m talking about.”

Trivium at Bloodstock Open Air 2025 played:

‘Rain’
‘Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr’
‘Like Light To The Flies’
‘Catastrophist’
‘Until The World Goes Cold’
‘Symptom Of The Universe’ (Black Sabbath cover with Robb Flynn)
‘Throes Of Perdition’ (with Sleep Token’s III)
‘Master Of Puppets (Metallica cover)
‘A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation’
‘Strife’
‘Bury Me With My Screams’
‘In Waves’ (with Ihsahn)
‘The Deceived’ (with Malevolence’s Josh Baines)
‘The Heart From Your Hate’
‘Down From The Sky’
‘The Sin And The Sentence’

Their headline Bloodstock performance comes after the Orlando metal band shared new single ‘Bury Me With My Screams’ after weeks of teasing it on social media, marking their first release since 2021’s ‘In The Court Of The Dragon’.

Following the release of the single, Trivium confirmed they are due to release a new EP titled ‘Struck Dead’ on Halloween (October 31). It will reportedly include three songs – one of which is ‘Bury Me With My Screams’. You can pre-order your copy here.

Elsewhere, it’s been announced that a documentary about Osbourne is also on the way, which will share an “intimate glimpse” of his “last chapter”. Titled Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, it will feature contributions from his family and was filmed across his final three years. It will air on BBC One and iPlayer on August 18.

A biopic of Ozzy and Sharon’s lives is also in the works at Sony Pictures, with negotiations with a director ongoing. The project was first announced in 2021.
