When is the second half of ‘Wednesday’ season two released?

Jenna Ortega

The first half of season two of Wednesday has landed on Netflix, but when can fans expect to see the remaining episodes? Find out below.

The first season of the show based on the goth teen at the heart of the Addams Family proved to be a breakout hit for the streaming platform, becoming their biggest English-language series of all time in 2022.

The first half of the second season is now here – with the first four episodes having landed, with Jenna Ortega returning in the title role and half of the new episodes having been directed by Tim Burton.

In a four-star review of the first part of season two, NME wrote: “A frantic mid-season finale sets things up for an explosive return in September, which will also see the arrival of Lady Gaga’s Rosaline Rotwood. Perhaps that next batch of episodes will take the beloved series to new places after part one sticks carefully to the familiar, if successful, formula.”

One character who has not returned for the new season is Xavier, who had been set up as Wednesday’s potential love interest. He was written out after actor Percy Hynes White was the subject of sexual misconduct allegations, which he has denied.

A third season has already been commissioned, with showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar also now working on a spinoff series.

When is the second half of Wednesday season two released?

As they often have in the past, Netflix announced earlier this year that they would be staggering the release of Wednesday season two.

The first four episodes landed on Wednesday (August 6), but to watch the remaining four instalments, fans will have to wait until September 3, when the final episodes will all be made available simultaneously on the streaming platform.

Lady Gaga is set to join the cast in the second half of season two to take up the role of Rosaline Rotwood, with reports that she has written a new song for the show named ‘Dead Dance’.

Ortega opened up about working with Gaga while at SXSW this spring, saying: “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim [Burton], two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.”

“Then just finding out that she’s such a sweetheart and really kind and reserved, it’s very strange. I love that you never know what to expect from her, but you can always expect kindness and generosity,” Ortega continued.
