20 years ago, Christopher Nolan's modern superhero classic Batman Beginswas released, rescuing the Caped Crusader from Hollywood limbo. A more grounded, realistic take on the character, it stood in sharp contrast to the colorful, campy sugar rush of Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, which had underperformed commercially and been critically reviled.
