'Sin City' Is the Most Important Comic Book Movie of the Last 20 Years

When thinking about the current comic book movie landscape, it's easy to single out some of the usual suspects as being important to the evolution of the genre. Depending on the era, fans will reference 2002's Spider-Man as a significant moment, while others will head to 2008, Iron Man, and the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a pivotal moment. Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knightis widely considered the holy grail of the genre because of the realism it brought to a genre long believed to be cartoonish. All of those paved the way, but it would be a shame to leave out 2005's Sin City, a movie that arrived before Iron Man and made with all the style and dedication by director Robert Rodriguez. Even 20 years later, Sin City is one of the most important comic book films.
