Movie stunts can be dangerous, which is why the film industry employs professionals for big scenes involving lots of action. While stunt work has been around for as long as the movies themselves (check out Buster Keaton), it took 96 years for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to announce a stunt design category for the Oscars.
