aespa announce new mini-album ‘Rich Man’

aespa have officially announced their sixth mini album, ‘Rich Man’ – find out more below.

In late June, aespa released ‘Dirty Work’, their first single since October last year. Now, after weeks of teases, it has been confirmed that SM Entertainment group are set to release a follow-up mini album in September.

The group officially announced the new mini album yesterday (August 4). It is being titled ‘Rich Man’, and is due for release on September 5. You can pre-order your copy here.

The group have also shared an intro video to tease the project, in which they redefine the concept of being a “rich man”: “I am enough as I am. I am a ‘Rich Man’.” Watch teaser below.

It is currently unknown if their latest single ‘Dirty Work’ will feature on the mini album. They released the track in full on June 27, along with an alternative version featuring Flo Milli.

After that, they teamed up with hit online shooting game PUBG Battlegrounds for the new single ‘Dark Arts’ in mid-July. ‘Dark Arts’ is a heavy, guitar-driven track that, according to a press release, “conveys the tension of combat” while aespa’s vocal harmonies “add a fierce determination for victory.” The accompanying music video saw Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning causing all sorts of chaos in the world of PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Their last mini-album ‘Whiplash’ was released in late October last year. Besides the title track, that EP also included the songs ‘Kill It’, ‘Flights, Not Feelings’, ‘Pink Hoodie’, ‘Flowers’ and ‘Just Another Girl’.

In December, aespa’s ‘Supernova’ was crowned NME‘s top K-pop song of the year: “Although aespa have had a solid run throughout their career, ‘Supernova’ so accurately foretells the unbelievable creative and commercial success this year that it may well have been written in the stars. Thrilling and bold, ‘Supernova’ is a three-minute trip into a futuristic cyberpunk utopia, leaving you wanting more the second it’s over.”

The track was also deemed NME‘s ninth best song of 2024: “Bursting with a bouncy electro beat and a stellar hook, ‘Supernova’ affirms the girl group’s ability to thrive in uncharted territory.”
