Are My Chemical Romance teasing new music?

My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance have posted a mysterious photo on socials – could they be teasing new music?

The emo legends recently announced a slew of 2026 dates in Asia and a massive concert in Mexico that same year – now, it appears they might have something big up their sleeves.

On Instagram, the band uploaded a strange image of a shining object with three circular lights blazing from its top. There’s a timestamp, too, reading ’07:11:25:00′. It suggests something might arrive at midnight tomorrow (July 11) – the day before MCR are due to kick off their ‘Long Live The Black Parade’ tour in Seattle. Then, the caption below reads: “A dagger, a dagger – please fetch me a dagger”.

The designer of the cover of ‘The Foundations of Decay’ – MCR’s newest single released in 2022 – also posted the same image on their story, with a dagger and eyes emoji.

Fans are now speculating what the post could point to. One person suggested: “Not sure if there’s going to be a new album, but at least one new song. My claims are based on my hopes.” Another pointed out the symbolism of the dagger, which apparently appeared after their huge 2024 show at When We Were Young Festival: “Weren’t there swords in the light projections on stage that everyone was debating the meaning of afterwards?”

However, others have been quick to dismiss that theory, with one writing on the same thread: “This is obviously about the tour starting tomorrow, why is everyone convinced this is a new album”. Take a look at the post below:

The last time MCR released music was in 2022, with ‘The Fountains of Decay’. NME gave the song four stars, writing: “New music was always going to be a risk, but ‘Foundations Of Decay’ never sounds bogged down with legacy. Across the track, there’s fire, urgency and plenty of joy as My Chemical Romance return in fine, fearless form.”

They’re soon to embark on their US tour for ‘Long Live The Black Parade’, which will celebrate their seminal 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’ and made headlines when they completely sold out within hours of going on sale.

The band’s diverse array of support acts for their 2025 US stadium tour sparked polarising reactions online. Each show will feature a different hand-selected artist as opening support – Violent Femmes100 GecsWallowsGarbageDeath Cab for Cutie and ThursdayAlice CooperPixiesDevo, IDLES and Evanescence.

Elseqhere, MCR have announced the deluxe 21st anniversary reissue of their classic second album, 2004’s ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’.
