‘Assassin’s Creed: Shadows’ expansion coming this week

A long-awaited update is set to go live for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows this week, bringing a number of new features to the action-adventure game.
Developers Ubisoft have shared a brief ‘Summer Roadmap’ for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Later today (July 29) a free update will be released that introduces the long-awaited New Game+ mode, giving players a level cap increase alongside new knowledge ranks, forge levels, achievements and trophies. A number of Animus-themed rewards and store content will also be made available.
A free quality of life update will follow in September that will let players fast-forward the time of day, unfog the world map and offer various improvements to the hideout feature. “More free content” has also been promised as part of the update.
Here is what is coming to #AssassinsCreedShadows during the next few months:

Ubisoft has also confirmed the ‘Claws Of Awaji’ DLC will go live on September 16. The expansion will add more than ten hours of content to the game including a “new region to explore” and a new chapter of the story. Players will also be able to access new weapons, abilities, outfits and take on previously unseen bosses and enemy factions.
“Embark on a completely new adventure as Naoe & Yasuke and travel to the mysterious Island of Awaji beyond Osaka Bay,” reads the description. “As the pair scour this new region seeking to reclaim a lost treasure, they are hunted relentlessly by deadly new foes. Securing the object—and Japan’s future—won’t be easy, with all the traps and ambushes putting our protagonists at risk.”
Last week, Ubisoft confirmed Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be coming to “other machines”, but stopped short of confirming a Switch 2 launch. The soundtrack is also getting a vinyl release later this year.
In a five-star review, NME wrote: “Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the series refresh badly needed after Valhalla, showcasing a huge technical and visual upgrade alongside a new gameplay blueprint. A fantastic story and well-developed characters ground the game in a believable era of Japan that is fun to explore. It confidently sets the standard for the next games in the franchise.”
In other news WB Games Montréal, the studio behind Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, is working on a new live-service game inspired by the DC comic book universe.
