Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter has revealed what motivates the animation studio to turn one of their films into a franchise. Pixar Animation Studios is one of the last major studios that seems to be able to get audiences to rush out for original ideas, as the company's name has become a brand in itself. Even though the company still makes many original films, starting in the 2010s, there was a greater increase in sequels and prequels to their popular films. But why does Cars get a sequel and not say Ratatouille or A Bug's Life?
