Disney's Live-Action Box Office Bomb 'Mulan' Is Finally Finding Some Success on Streaming
The recent run of Disney live-action remakes of animated classics have ranged from modestly alright (The Jungle Book) to downright terrible (Snow White). But perhaps the worst cinematic crime of all is for a film to be bland and forgettable. That's exactly what happened when Disney decided to reboot one of its best animated action movies into live-action. The live-action Mulan, released in 2020, should have been a surefire hit for the studio. The original Mulan is a fan favorite, and the plot, worldbuilding, and action could all easily translate to live-action (far more easily than a talking blue genie). But the Disney live-action curse struck once again, and Mulan was deemed a failure by fans of the original. However, despite its underwhelming reception, the Mulan remake is finding renewed success on streaming.
