'Electra' Review: Maria Bakalova Thrills in This Year's Answer to 'Saltburn'

New generations occasionally riff on classics, but rarely are they as successful as Electra, a sexy spin on the 1969 classic film La Piscine (The Swimming Pool). That film found a journalist's boyfriend allowing her former lover to drown only to face scrutiny from a shrewd inspector. In Electra, an American couple (Abigail Cowen and Daryl Wein) heads to Italy to interview a beleaguered rockstar (Jack Farthing) at his girlfriend’s (Maria Bakalova) swanky countryside estate. But everything is not as it appears to be.
