Fashion designer refuses to work with Rosalía due to her silence on Palestine

A Spanish fashion designer has refused to work with Rosalía due to her lack of public support for Palestine.

The designer in question is Miguel Adrover, who took to social media to share that he had recently turned down the offer to design a custom-made dress for the singer.

In the post, he called for those in the public eye to use their platforms to “do the right thing” and speak out against Israel’s attack on Gaza.

““Doing ‘The Right Thing’… Silence is complicity, and even more so when you have a big microphone where millions of people listen to you when you sing,” he wrote in the caption. “That’s why you have the responsibility to use this power to denounce this genocide.”

In the post, he shared a screenshot from an email chain between his representatives and Rosalía’s team. The exchange appears to be regarding the team seeking out a custom look for the singer, which they wanted done by September.

In the response from Adrover’s team, they said: “I’m sorry, but Miguel doesn’t work with any artist who doesn’t publicly support Palestina.”

In his caption, the designer went on to address the singer directly. “Rosalía, this is nothing personal. I admire you for all your talent and for everything you’ve achieved,” he wrote. “And I think you are much more than those artists who only dedicate themselves to show business and entertainment. Now we have to do ‘The Right Thing.’”

It is worth noting that, although there is currently no mention of the conflict on any of Rosalía’s social media platforms, fans have shared what appears to be a now-expired Instagram story that the singer posted in 2023.

In that post, which was shared less than two weeks after the Hamas-led attacks in Israel on October 7 2023, Rosalía shared an appeal from UNICEF. This referenced the shortages of food in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis, and encouraged people to make donations.

Some have claimed that the post was taken down by Rosalía a few hours after it was posted.

Neither the singer nor her team have responded to the post made by Adrover at the time of writing.
