Final Destination Bloodlines-3

A seventh instalment in the Final Destination franchise is reportedly on the way, with the co-writer of Final Destination: Bloodlines on board.

As reported by THR, Warner Bros.’ New Line division is moving forward with a follow-up to its recent hit Final Destination: Bloodlines. The co-writer on that film, Lori Evans Taylor, is set to pen the next horror flick.

The move comes after the hugely successful Bloodlines grossed over $286 million at the worldwide box office following its May release.

As noted by Variety, the franchise is one of New Line’s highest-grossing horrors, falling just behind the billion-dollar universes of The Conjuring and It movies.

Even the trailer for the film surpassed expectations, becoming the second most-viewed horror trailer of all time and breaking the 24-hour record set by 28 Years Later.

In NME’s four-star review of Final Destination: Bloodlines, Jordan Bassett described the film as “a glorious comeback” and “a deliriously daft celebration of all the silliness that made the franchise so much fun in the first place”.

“The relentlessness of these killings could and possibly should be depressing and tawdry; what most impresses about Final Destination Bloodlines is the filmmakers’ success in keeping the tone so comical and uproarious throughout, which shouldn’t be underestimated,” it added. “It’s probably the best version of this film you could expect to see.”

The film featured a cameo from late series stalwart Tony Todd, who sadly died not long after filming the scene in which he warns survivors to enjoy life because “you never know when” your time is up.

Co-director Adam Stein later revealed his lines were improvised, recalling: “We asked him to put away the script and to just speak from the heart about what all this has meant. What is life all about? What does death mean?

“[We said] ‘talk from your heart, Tony, to the audience. What do you want to what do you want to leave your fans with?’”

As for the next film, Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle and Toby Emmerich will return to produce, Warren Zide executive producing.
