‘Gotham Knights’ developers are working on a new DC game

WB Games Montréal, the studio behind Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, is working on a new game inspired by the DC comic book universe.

According to a job listing, WB Games Montréal is looking for a new executive producer to join their team of 300 staff.

“As an Executive Producer, you will lead the development of a high-quality AAA game based on one of the iconic IPs from the vast Warner Bros. and DC Comics catalog. You will oversee the entire production lifecycle—from concept to launch and beyond—ensuring the game meets the highest standards of quality, innovation, and player engagement. You will work closely with the Creative Director and studio leadership to align creative vision with production realities, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure the project delivers on time, on budget, and to critical and commercial success,” reads the job description.

“You will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence, ensuring that the game not only meets its goals but also pushes the boundaries of what’s possible within the WB and DC universe,” the listing continues, with the suitable candidate needing a “passion for gaming and a deep appreciation for the WB and DC Comics universes.”

The job description also suggests the new DC game will be a live-service title which has surprised some fans due to the poor reception of 2024’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

Following a shaky launch, Warner Bros. admitted that Suicide Squad failed to live up to the their expectations but said it was still planning to to pivot away from “volatile” triple-A games to focus on more live-service titles. CEO David Zaslav went on to admit that their games were “substantially underperforming” before adding that Warner Bros. will now be doubling down on just four IPs: Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, Game Of Thrones and DC, “in particular Batman.”

“We are focusing our development efforts on those core franchises, with proven studios to improve our success ratio,” Zaslav added during an earnings call.

Earlier this year it was reported that a new Batman game from Arkham developers Rocksteady was in the works while WB Montréal was rumoured to be working on pitch for a Game Of Thrones title. Back in 2022, DC Studios’ CEO James Gunn said future games will be tied into his cinematic universe.
