‘Hollow Knight: Silksong’ will release in the next nine weeks

It looks like Hollow Knight: Silksong will definitely release at some point in the next nine weeks.

Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced back in 2019 as a DLC expansion to 2017’s fiendishly tricky Hollow Knight. However it was so ambitious, developers Team Cherry later turned it into a fully-fledged sequel. It had been due to launch in 2023 but was delayed indefinitely and since then, updates from Team Cherry have been few and far between.

Developers have confirmed several times that Hollow Knight: Silksong will definitely be released at some point in 2025. It was included in a reel of upcoming games available for the Nintendo Switch 2 while Microsoft boss Sarah Bond confirmed it would launch on Xbox Game Pass to coincide with the release of the handheld Xbox ROG Ally.

Team Cherry’s PR Leth went on to confirm in the Hollow Knight: Silksong discord that the game would release “before” the Xbox ROG Ally and wasn’t tied to a console release.

Earlier today (August 8) an October 16 release date for the handheld Xbox ROG Ally was announced by an industry insider. This means Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch at some point in the next nine weeks, unless things have changed behind the scenes.

It’s also been confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at the Xbox booth at Gamescom as well as the Nintendo booth, with many fans expecting an official announcement to be made during the event’s opening showcase on August 20.

Excitement around Hollow Knight: Silksong has reached fever pitch over the past few months. There was outrage when the game didn’t feature in a “disappointing” 3rd party showcase from Nintendo with many more fans expecting an announcement during yesterday’s (August 7) indie showcase.

At the start of the year, Team Cherry was forced to confirm the game was real after rumours that it had been cancelled began to spread online, due to the lack of updates from developers.
