How '28 Years Later' Cleverly Sets up a New Trilogy
Spoiler Alert: Spoilers follow for 28 Years LaterOver two decades later (and just five years short of what the title advertises), Danny Boyle and Alex Garland have finally returned to the dormant franchise they birthed and the genre they helped reinvigorate. This weekend saw the release of 28 Years Later, set almost three decades after the outbreak of the Rage virus: the outbreak has been contained and relegated to Great Britain, now under indefinite quarantine. Centered around a small family unit (Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and newcomer Alfie Williams), the film explores how both humanity and the infected have evolved.
