Is Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible 8' a Box Office Success?

Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning was, of course, originally titled Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two. However, that title became an albatross for the franchise following the relatively disappointing box-office performance of Dead Reckoning Part One, the lowest-grossing entry in the nearly 30-year-old franchise since the 2006 installment Mission: Impossible III. Despite the confusion, The Final Reckoning finished its opening weekend of domestic release over the Memorial Day weekend with a three-day gross of $64 million, a franchise record, and a four-day total of $79 million.
