'Lilo & Stitch' Director Explains Leaving Out Captain Dantu in Live-Action Disney Film

The latest live-action Disney remake, Lilo & Stitch, is set to break Memorial Day weekend records at the box office. However, it will be curious to see how fans react to the movie after they see some of the big changes it makes to the 2002 animated classic. One of the most notable is the film's decision to cut the fan-favorite character, Captain Gantu, from the story. Gantu, voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, was the captain of the Galactic Federation who was sent in the film's climax to capture Stitch after Jumba and Pleakley had seemingly failed. Gantu is one of the franchise's most enduring antagonists, returning in Stitch! The Movie, Lilo & Stitch: The Series, and Leroy and Stitch, where he finally got a chance to redeem himself.
