'M3GAN 2.0' Lands Rotten Tomatoes Verdict Well Short of 'Terminator 2' Comparisons
M3GAN 2.0 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, let alone live up to an iconic film like 1991's Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Terminator 2: Judgement Day. So, why would audiences compare these two movies anyway, aside from the killer robot trope? Well, much like T2, writer/director Gerard Johnstone's M3GAN 2.0 deviates to a degree from the horror theme established in the original installment and takes up more of an action/sci-fi-oriented approach in the sequel. Unfortunately, where T2 was enormously successful in breaking away from the blueprint set forth in 1984’s The Terminator, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s M3GAN 2.0 doesn’t completely stick the landing with critics.
