Nicolas Cage reveals he’s a fan of Australian hardcore band Nicolas Cage Fighter: “Their songs are empowering”

Nicolas Cage has revealed he is a fan of Australian hardcore band Nicolas Cage Fighter, one of many projects that have borrowed his name.

The legendary star has a cult following due to his prolific output and eclectic role choices. In a reader interview with The Guardian, he was asked how he felt about so many things being named after him, citing the band Cage Against The Machine.

In response, he said: “I am not familiar with that musical institution. I am familiar with a hard rock band out of Australia called Nicolas Cage Fighter, and I think they’re terrific. Their songs are empowering”.

He continued: “The lyrics are all about taking ownership of your mistakes, never being a victim, figuring out how you can fix your problems. ‘Re-evaluate your life / Focus on yourself / Look me in the eyes again / Tell me that none of this is your fault’. They’re not afraid to write songs that are about where you have to own up to your mistakes”.

The band’s Spotify profile reveals they are working on a new album which is scheduled to be released this year. Their last release was 2022’s ‘Compound And Fracture’.

As for Nicolas Cage, the star is working on numerous projects in 2025, including sports drama Madden where he plays iconic NFL coach John Madden. He will also be the lead in Marvel TV show Spider-Noir, which released its first look recently as well as news of different ways for viewers to watch.

Elsewhere, Cage recently revealed he is frequently mistaken for a musician with a similar name, saying: “I don’t think there’s a day that goes by where I’m not mistaken for Nick Cave.” In response, Cave shared his own amusing story about being mistaken for the actor, while also praising his 2018 film Mandy.
