'Sinners' Becomes First R-Rated Horror Movie to Earn "A" CinemaScore in 35 Years

Sinnershas done what Get Out, A Quiet Place, and Nosferatu couldn't, and broken through the CinemaScore barrier for horror films. CinemaScore polls opening night audiences on what they thought of a film and if it met their expectations, and no genre has had a more difficult time than horror films. The genre typically gets ratings ranging from Nosferatu's B- to even as low as a D-, which is what Hereditary received. Even critically acclaimed films like Nope or A Quiet Place Part II received an A-, seemingly the highest rating the genre could achieve.
