Was Martin Scorsese's 'Gangs of New York' Worth the 20-Year Wait?

In a career that spans over half a century, Martin Scorsese has proven himself to be one of the most consistently great filmmakers of all time. With the arguable exception of Boxcar Bertha, every one of his movies can be called at least “good”, and several of them can easily be called among the greatest of all time. His filmography is also one of the most eclectic out there, as he’s made gritty crime dramas, psychological thrillers, religious epics, period romances, sports biopics, and even family-friendly tearjerkers.
