'The Rehearsal' Season 2 Review: Absurdity Reaches New Heights
While Nathan Fielder certainly has comedic ancestors (Andy Kaufman, Norm Macdonald, Johnny Knoxville) and contemporaries (John Wilson, Joe Pera, Tim Heidecker), there is nobody who is fully comparable. In a sense, his career has perfected the specific art of "purpose-driven laughter." From his early work at the CBC to his Comedy Central days with Nathan for You and ultimately HBO's The Rehearsal, Fielder's particular brand of comedy always seems to have a mission.
