Dave Grohl covered LCD Soundsystem, David Bowie and more during a recent surprise appearance at a fundraiser.

The Foo Fighters musician appeared and performed at Oakwood Live, a school benefit in Los Angeles. At the gig, Grohl was joined by Foo Fighters bandmate Rami Jaffee, as well as musicians Wiley Hodgen and John Lousteau.

The set began with a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’, before moving on to the Knack‘s ‘My Sherona’. After that, they played Queen and David Bowie’s ‘Under Pressure’, with another special guest – the Struts’ Luke Spiller. Lisa Loeb then joined them on stage for a cover of Bowie’s ‘Moonage Daydream’.

Earlier this month, Grohl made a surprise appearance during weekend two of Coachella, performing ‘Everlong’ and ‘The Sky Is A Neighbourhood’ alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic. It marked his first time performing a Foo Fighters song since last summer.

In January, he reunited with Nirvana for a surprise appearance at the FireAid benefit gig. This saw them perform with St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett and Grohl’s daughter Violet to deliver a number of greatest hits.

He also seemingly spent his birthday – January 14 – volunteering in LA, making meals for those left affected by the fires. In footage shared by Feed The Streets Los Angeles on Instagram Stories, the singer and guitarist was seen stirring a large pot of chilli as part of the efforts to provide food for those who have been forced to leave their homes.

Last year, the musician revealed that he had “recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage”, adding “I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”

Foo Fighters subsequently cancelled their scheduled headline slot at the Soundside Music Festival, and currently do not have any live dates in their calendar.
