Watch Ms. Lauryn Hill join Wyclef Jean onstage in London to perform Fugees classics

Ms. Lauryn Hill joined Wyclef Jean on stage in London to perform a series of classic Fugees songs – watch below.

Wyclef played his first London headline show in 15 years on Sunday night (August 24), at KOKO in Camden Town. Timed to coincide with the Notting Hill Carnival, he played with a six-piece live band, dancers and gospel singers, and at the end of the night, he surprised the crowd with a special appearance from his former bandmate.

Ms. Hill flew into London especially for the show, and together they performed ‘How Many Mics’, ‘Killing Me Softly’, ‘Ready Or Not’ and ‘Fu-Gee-La’.

Jean and Hill performed together at Roberta Flack’s memorial service in March, paying tribute to the singer that first made their hit ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’ originally famous.

Hill gave a speech at the ceremony, saying: “Like Nina Simone, she carved out for me a pathway of soulful Black intellectual sublime beauty that not only spoke to Black resistance directly in lyric and statement, but was Black resistance to racism, bigotry and limitations by virtue of its existence.”

The two Fugees also performed the song at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary show in February, a rendition that was watched enthusiastically by Adele, who shared a clip of herself singing along at home.

The third Fugees member, Pras – who is currently facing 20 years in prison following a guilty verdict over his involvement in a money laundering scheme – recently declared that he’s “done” with the group.

Hill, meanwhile, guested during Drake’s first night at Wireless in July, and also recently addressed “misconceptions” about her history of lateness at live shows.
